Minutes

Introduction of members of committee. Went over and decided norms and purpose of Community Council. Copy of Bylaws to be emailed out and reviewed to see if any changes need to be made. Roles of the Community Council

• School Changes: Reading Initiatives replacing AR/Behavior parties. Each trimester will have a reading initiative. These activities will promote reading. Each teacher will be able to choose how or whether to use AR, and incorporate reading promotion activities. Behavior reward parties will also happen once a trimester. The students will earn these opportunities based on their behavior. Students who need help with behavior will be assisted so they can be successful in the future.
• Two all day Kindergarten sessions. Feelings have just been that there has been an adjustment. Nice option, will look at ideas for transitions for the beginning of the year.
• School Mission- Talked about the new school mission statement and the push to incorporate students, teachers and community.

Where do we feel we are with school and parent and community communication?

• Questions about parent teacher conferences.
• School emails/phone calls
• Teachers to continue to reach out to parents

Training in November- Group training from USBE, online training
November 9th 12 p.m. 7 p.m.
November 14th 12 p.m. 7 p.m.
Council chose November 9th at 12 p.m.

• Next Meeting: Thursday, October, 20^th at 3:00
  Training will replace the meeting in November.
